Diese Filme wurden bei den Oscars 1930/1 (2. Ausgabe der Academy Awards) am 03.04.1930 ausgezeichnet oder nominiert.

Die Oscarverleihung vom April 1930 fand am 3. April 1930 im Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles statt. Es waren die 2nd Annual Academy Awards. Ausgezeichnet wurden Filme aus der Zeit zwischen dem 2. August 1928 und dem 31. Juli 1929. Sowohl die zweite als auch die dritte Oscarverleihung fanden im Jahr 1930 statt. Diese Kompensation ermöglichte es, bei zukünftigen Verleihungen die Filme aus dem vorherigen Kalenderjahr auszuzeichnen. Die zweite Verleihung fand wiederum im Rahmen eines Banketts statt, wurde diesmal jedoch im Radio übertragen. Im Gegensatz zum Vorjahr wurden die Gewinner nicht mehr im Voraus bekanntgegeben. Zusätzlich wurden die 12 Kategorien auf 7 reduziert. ()

It has been shown in recent years at one film festival in LA. This is an important film due to its Oscar status and because it is in existence somewhere and deserves to be mentioned.

After Fay takes the pearls, but before she can toss them out the window, she is caught by Arthur who is very disappointed in how things are turning out.

The circus provides the backdrop for this melodrama that chronicles the lives of four children raised within the big top. Film historian and collector William K. Everson stated that the only surviving print was lost by actress Mary Duncan who had borrowed it from Fox Studios. In the December 1974 issue of "Films in Review," he explained that Mary Duncan, one of the film's stars, wanted it to show to a group of friends in Florida. The star was aware that it was a dangerous nitrate print and assumed that Fox had others. She threw the only copy in the ocean, a mistake characterized by Everson as "a monumental blunder to rank with Balaclava, Sarajevo, and the Fall of Babylon as one of history's blackest moments.".
