Alex Timbers

Alex Timbers (born August 7, 1978) is an American writer and director best known for his work on stage and television. He has received numerous accolades including two Tony Awards, a Golden Globe Award, a Drama Desk Award, as well as nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award and a Grammy Award. Timbers received the Drama League Founder's Award for Excellence in Directing and the Jerome Robbins Award for Directing. Timbers received a Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical for Moulin Rouge! and a Special Tony Award for David Byrne's American Utopia both at the 74th Tony Awards. He was nominated for two further Tony Awards for Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson and Peter and the Starcatcher. Other Broadway credits include The Pee-wee Herman Show, Beetlejuice, Gutenberg! The Musical!, Here Lies Love, and Oh Hello! on Broadway, written by and starring comedians Nick Kroll and John Mulaney. On television, he co-created the Amazon Prime Video series Mozart in the Jungle which won the 2016 Golden Globe Award.... ()
