Nanami Ishikawa works as an editor at a publishing company. She travels Hiroshima to go after her father Asahi who left home. During her visit to Hiroshima, she learns about the tragic story of Asahi's older sister Minami Hirano. When Minami Hirano was 13 years old, she was exposed to radiation by an atomic bomb.
Sakura, who just graduated from a university, begins to work at a library in Katsuragi, Nara Prefecture. She is flustered with her new job and unfamiliar environment. One day, an elderly woman named Reiko visits the library and shows Sakura an old photo of a man and a woman. Sakura takes her to the place where the photo was taken. Reiko sometimes brings other photos and Sakura takes her to the place where the photos were taken. While doing this, Sakura learns about the history and culture of Katsuragi. She also talks with the residents and grows as a person.
Azusa (Anna Ishii) and Narumi (Fuka Koshiba) are 2nd grade high school students. They lack confidence and also any kind of ambitions. Hazuki (Karin Ono), Tamaki (Mika Akizuki) and Mika (Miku Uehara) are also unnoticed students at the same high school. These five girls form a dance club and begin to dance to get credits. They soon learn the joys of dancing and also learn to express themselves.
Im Alter von 13 Jahren verlässt die kleine Hexe Kiki (Fûka Koshiba) ihre Freunde und ihre Familie, um einer alten Tradition folgend ihre Hexenfähigkeiten fernab von ihrem Heimatdorf zu trainieren. Dort kommt Kiki auf die Idee, ihre magischen Talente und Flugfertigkeiten dazu zu nutzen, einen Lieferservice aufzubauen. Doch ihr Vorhaben gestaltet sich schwieriger als gedacht, da viele Menschen ihr zunächst misstrauisch gegenüberstehen. Dann macht auch noch zu ihrem Unglück das Gerücht die Runde, Kiki würde Menschen und Tiere verhexen, sodass sich alle Leute von ihr abwenden. Kiki verliert daraufhin ihre Zauberkräfte.
