On a cold Monday morning, a group of counselors clock in at an old-fashioned social services office. Their task is to interview the recently deceased, record their personal details, then, over the course of the week, assist them in choosing a single memory to keep for eternity.
Margots (Luisa Taraz) und Dieters (Frederik von Lüttichau) Beziehung hat schon mal bessere Zeiten erlebt. Aber vielleicht nimmt das Schicksal ja eine positive Wendung, denkt die depressive Margot, als sie völlig unerwartet von einem entfernten Verwandten ein Schloss erbt. Das Ehepaar beschließt, sich das Anwesen anzusehen, um eine Bestandsaufnahme zu machen. Als plötzlich die Autoschlüssel verschwunden sind, müssen sie die Nacht in dem alten und ziemlich heruntergekommenen Gemäuer verbringen. Am nächsten Morgen will Margot plötzlich nicht wieder fort. Wie in Trance scheint sie dem Gebäude geradezu verfallen und beginnt, mit sich selbst über vergangene sowie zukünftige Leben zu sprechen. Währenddessen findet der sonst so griesgrämige Dieter im Keller eine alte Bullenpeitsche, die ihn extrem zu faszinieren scheint ….

We want to know if all the choices we make now will shape our world and lives for eternity. Because we want our lives to have meaning today, and our lives today to have meaning forever.
