Die galicische Sprache, auch galegische Sprache (galicisch und portugiesisch galego; spanisch gallego), gehört zum iberoromanischen Zweig der romanischen Sprachen und wird im Nordwesten der Iberischen Halbinsel von rund drei Millionen Menschen gesprochen. Politisch hat sie den Status einer Minderheitensprache in Spanien; in der Autonomen Region Galicien ist sie seit 1982 als normierte Amtssprache neben dem Spanischen in Gebrauch. Sie ist darüber hinaus in einigen angrenzenden Landstrichen verbreitet, die zu den Provinzen Asturien, León und Zamora gehören. Galicisch ist eng mit seinen iberoromanischen Nachbarsprachen verwandt, namentlich mit dem Spanischen (Kastilischen) und noch enger mit dem Portugiesischen, mit dem es ursprünglich eine Einheit bildete (die galicisch-portugiesische Sprache) und typologisch gesehen noch heute einen einheitlichen Sprachblock formt.
