As their relationship is souring, Ginger gets detention and has to miss Darren's first football game. Instead of telling him what is really happening, she lies and says she'll be there, only making things worse.

Dodie, trying out for the Pep Squad, is doing anything and everything she can to convince the coach to let her on the team.

Ginger and Darren break up, and what Ginger thinks is total heartbreak ends up being a burst appendix and she's rushed to the hospital. Carl looks up to Dr. Dave as his real father after he saves Ginger's life. Note: This episode was originally going to be titled What Makes Us Stronger.
#10Dodie's Big Break
Dodie is made an official member of the pep squad after she exaggerates a minor injury sustained in her role as mascot. Ginger sees through the ruse, though, and convinces Dodie to try to earn the position honorably.
#11Battle Of The Bands
When the schools cuts the music program funding in order to finance new uniforms for the football team, Ginger plans a protest, only to be outdone by Carl and Hoodsey's hijacking of Courtney's private Port-o-Potty, and her humiliation during a game.
