Top Gear: Extra Gear, known simply as Extra Gear, was a British online television series, broadcast by BBC Three, which is online only and is available on on-demand service BBC iPlayer in the United Kingdom; the series serves as a spin-off show to Top Gear. In the first series, the main presenters were Top Gear co-presenters Rory Reid and Chris Harris. After Reid and Harris were appointed as main presenters to the parent show, comedian George Lewis was announced as the new lead presenter for series 2. Following Lewis’ departure, Reid returned as the presenter of the show for the third series. ()

Extra Gear kicks off with an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Rory's Suzuki Ignis film. Presenter, journalist and self-confessed 'car pervert' Jonny Smith joins Rory in studio along with Off Road camera specialist Duncan Barbour to talk all things four-wheel drive and family estate cars. Chris gets another chance to drive the Porsche Panamera Turbo but this time it is around the Top Gear test track and it is the S E-Hybrid.

Extra Gear gets a bit sideways with former British Drift Champion Paul ‘Smokey’ Smith as he puts the Mercedes AMG E63S new drift mode to the test. Award-winning motoring journalist Henry Catchpole and Super Cars of London’s Paul Wallace join Rory in the studio to talk super saloons going four-wheel drive. And in this week’s Harris Hot Lap Chris gets his hands on Britain’s super saloon, the Jaguar XJR 575.

In this week’s instalment Extra Gear spends some time in Tokyo with one of the most sought after Porsche tuner’s in the world, Akira Nakai of RWB. Rory is joined in studio by the son of the three-time F1 World Champion Jack Brabham, racing driver David Brabham, and race engineer David Lapworth to discuss the all new Porsche GT2RS and the Bentley Speed 8. Chris gets another go at the Bentley Continental GT but this time it’s around the Top Gear test track.

This week Extra Gear has full paddock passes as Team Top Gear battle it out at the Birkett Relay in their six grand luxury cars. Rory is joined in the studio by fellow Birkett competitors, race engineer Al Lock and driver Ash Hall from Team Brit. Bruno Senna also joins Rory to talk all things endurance racing and the road to Le Mans. And Chris gets a chance to take the Team Brit Fun Cup Beetle around the Top Gear Test Track.

Chris gets behind the wheel of the Audi R8 V10 but this one is rear-wheel drive.
