Friebus's best-known roles were Winifred "Winnie" Gillis, the sympathetic mother of Dwayne Hickman's character Dobie Gillis on The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis,: 267  and Mrs. Lillian Bakerman on The Bob Newhart Show.
