20th Century Studios (previously known as 20th Century Fox or 20th Century Fox Film Corporation) is an American film production company headquartered at the Fox Studio Lot in the Century City area of Los Angeles. Since 2019, it serves as a film production arm of Walt Disney Studios, a division of Disney Entertainment, which is owned by The Walt Disney Company. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures distributes and markets the films produced by 20th Century Studios in theatrical markets. For over 80 years – beginning with its founding in 1935 and ending in 2019 (when it became part of Walt Disney Studios) – 20th Century Fox was one of the then "Big Six" major American film studios. It was formed in 1935 from the merger of the Fox Film Corporation and Twentieth Century Pictures and was originally known as the Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation (while owned by TCF Holdings) as one of the original Big Five among eight majors of Hollywood's Golden Age.
