The Dukes of Hazzard is an American action comedy TV series created by Gy Waldron, that was aired on CBS from January 26, 1979, to February 8, 1985, with a total of seven seasons consisting of 147 episodes. It was consistently among the top-rated television series in the late 1970s and early 1980s (at one point, ranking second only to Dallas, which immediately followed the show on CBS's Friday night schedule). The show is a retelling of the English folk tale Robin Hood and features two young male cousins, Bo and Luke Duke, who live in rural Georgia and are on probation for moonshine-running. Probation prevents the "Duke Boys" from owning guns and the duo are armed with bows and arrows and clever plans to outwit a corrupt sheriff and greedy rich "city slickers." Their female cousin Daisy Duke, and other family (such as patriarch Uncle Jesse), live in a secluded country home in the woods where they plan various escapades to expose and evade county commissioner Boss Hogg and law officer Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane. The "Duke Boys" drive a customized 1969 Dodge Charger nicknamed the General Lee, which became a symbol of the show. It's been 8 years since the Dukes got the General Lee and we see the story of how they got it. When it was originally used as a getaway car for some gold dust thieves and Bo and Luke got it from a junkyard because they needed a car to race in.

The Dukes' old friend Waylon Jennings comes to Hazzard with his mobile museum to use as a charity exhibit. But Boss hires two crooks to steal it and sell it back for a ransom.

Boss Hogg masterminds a plan to knock a boxcar off a train containing valuables by hiring three crooks to hook a remote control up to a car to knock off the boxcar. But when the car they use is wrecked, they steal the General Lee to use it for the remote control.

Escape convicts come to Hazzard. One of them is out to settle a score with Luke because he sent him to prison in the Marines. Sheriff Little was put in charge of the investigation and the convicts force the Dukes to let them escape and end up driving the General Lee through a forest fire.

When a group of armored car robbers steals the armored car by lifting off the ground with a helicopter, the Dukes are blamed for the crime. But when Bo and Luke are apprehended, they strike again. Knowing that they're innocent, Boss and Rosco let the Duke boys escape so that they can do Rosco's dirty work and catch the robbers.
