The eighth and final season of the American comedy television series That '70s Show began airing November 2, 2005 on Fox, a U.S. broadcast television network. It comprises 22 episodes and concluded its initial airing on May 18, 2006, with the series finale. All episodes of season 8, except the finale, are named after songs by Queen. The eighth season marked a major change in the series, as the show's star Topher Grace who portrayed Eric Forman, the central character, left the series at the end of the previous season and was replaced by new character Randy Pearson (portrayed by Josh Meyers). Eric was often mentioned throughout the season, even being an important off-stage character central to an episode's plot upon occasion. Grace returned as Eric for the final episode, although his role was brief and uncredited. Another major change was the departure of Michael Kelso, who was portrayed by Ashton Kutcher. Kutcher had quit the show at the end of season seven but remained on the series for five episodes during the eighth season. The seventh season of That '70s Show, an American television series, began September 8, 2004, and ended on May 18, 2005. It aired on Fox. The region 1 DVD was released on October 16, 2007. This season is set entirely in 1979. This is the last season to feature Topher Grace and Ashton Kutcher as regulars. Grace left the show at the end of the season to star in Spider-Man 3, and Kutcher to star in The Guardian. However, Kutcher appeared five times in the next season as a "Special Guest Star", and Grace made an uncredited cameo in the series finale. All episodes are named after songs by The Rolling Stones. Although their wedding doesn't happen, Eric and Donna stay together, trying to figure out what to do with their lives. After falling off the water tower, Hyde learns from Kitty who his actual father is, and through him starts a new career. He begins to face pressure to marry Jackie, which he is unsure about. Kelso is now a father and a cop, but neither stops him from wreaking havoc in Point Place. Fez is loving his new job and begins slowly fulfilling his dream of being a ladies man. This season is set in 1978 for the first seven episodes of the season. The series transitions to 1979 beginning with the eighth episode of the season ("I'm a Boy"). All episodes are named after songs by The Who. Eric and Donna's plans to move to Madison are dashed following Red's heart attack. Eric stays home and gets a new job to help the family out, and he and Donna decide to move forward with their wedding despite the setback. Kelso finally accepts Hyde and Jackie's relationship, but is in for another shock as he starts training at the police academy: he will be a father. Fez has married Eric's sister Laurie to avoid deportation, but they are far from in love. Jackie's mother returns after a long absence and begins dating Bob. ()

This season is set entirely in the year 1978. All episodes are named after songs by Led Zeppelin. After the fiasco with Kelso's brother Casey, a humiliated Donna runs away, and Eric, realizing he still loves her, goes after her. Eric and Donna get back together, but their parents are not happy about it. Despite their attempts to separate Eric and Donna, the couple make a decision to stay together, forever. After initially believing she was pregnant, Kitty is depressed when she discovers she is starting menopause, and everyone is walking on eggshells in terms of what to say around her. Kelso fled when Jackie wanted to marry him, but when he returns, he is in shock when he discovers who her new boyfriend is. Jackie has her own problems when her father gets arrested and her former life of ease is gone. Fez finds a steady girlfriend and believes his time to lose his virginity will come. The gang is also about to graduate high school, with each member having a lot riding on their futures. ()

This season is set entirely in 1978. The central storyline for this season revolves around Eric and Donna's relationship ending, and the ensuing fallout their breakup creates. Donna's parents have now divorced and her father Bob is depressed. Kelso and Jackie are back together, but their relationship sees new challenges for both. Hyde returns to living with the Formans when Bud reunites with his mother and leaves him, again. Fez begins dating Big Rhonda and believes he will lose his virginity to her. At the end of the season, two members of the gang decide the only way to cope with their problems is by leaving Point Place. ()

Central storylines this season include Eric and Donna dealing with some harsh realities of their relationship, Kelso trying to win Jackie back, Hyde reuniting with his father, Kitty trying to get Laurie to make something of herself, Donna's family facing hard times when Bob's store goes out of business, Fez dating a girl who turns out to be mentally insane, and Red and Kitty getting annoyed with Bob and Midge's fads and behaviors. Kitty continues babying Eric and is dismayed when she learns just how much he has grown up. Hyde has moved in with the Formans after his mother leaves town, and gets a job working for local hippie Leo. Kelso is still dating Jackie, but also begins an affair with Eric's sister Laurie behind her back. Fez becomes determined to find a girl and lose his virginity. Donna deals with Bob and Midge fighting and eventually separating, leading to her acting out to try to get their attention. ()

The major storylines this season involve Eric and Donna's close friendship turning into romance, Red struggling to provide for his family due to his hours being cut back, Kitty dealing with her children growing up and trying to play nice with her mother-in-law, Kelso's relationship with Jackie (and his frequent attempts to break up with her), Fez learning about life in America, Hyde's rough home life and strained relationship with his mother, and Bob and Midge beginning to have marital problems.
