Germany's Next Topmodel (often abbreviated as GNTM) is a German reality television series, based on the concept introduced by Tyra Banks with America's Next Top Model. The competition is hosted by Heidi Klum, who also serves as the lead judge and executive producer of the show. It is presently the longest-running Top Model adaptation, with a span of 19 years, and the Top Model series with the second-highest number of cycles. The show has been heavily criticized in Germany because of the treatment of its contestants. The allegations include gaslighting, abuse of power, misrepresentation of contestants and manipulations by the crew as well as body shaming. The show is also accused of being responsible for the cyberbullying and death threats against the contestants due to the show's misrepresentation of them. The show is also in the focus of the Commission for Youth Media Protection and the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. Former judges have distanced themselves from the show. ()

The seventeenth season of Germany's Next Topmodel aired on ProSieben from February to May 2022. The winner of this season was 18-year-old Lou-Anne Gleißenebner-Teskey from Klosterneuburg, Austria, who is notably the first model in Top Model history to compete with her mother. Her prizes include a cover and spread in the German edition of Harper's Bazaar, a €100,000 cash prize, and a campaign with MAC Cosmetics. The international destinations of this cycle are Athens, Mykonos, Los Angeles and Ibiza. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, this season is filmed under strict COVID-19 regulations like travel restrictions. Nevertheless, this was the first cycle to film abroad since the fifteenth cycle since the previous cycle was filmed entirely in Germany. This is the first season where the maximum age limit was removed, allowing contestants of all ages (lowest age limit still being 18) to enter the contest. ()

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the season was filmed under strict COVID-19 regulations like travel restrictions. As a result, the sixteenth season was the first and only season to be filmed entirely in Germany. ()

The international destinations of this cycle are Santa Cruz, Los Angeles, New York City, London, Milan, Paris, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic in Germany, the live final aired without a live audience in the studio. Furthermore, Heidi Klum joined from Los Angeles via video link due to international travel restrictions. Christian Anwander hosted the final. ()

Her prizes including a modeling contract worth €140,000 with ONEeins fab Management, a spread and cover in the German Harper's Bazaar, a €100,000 cash prize, a campaign for Michael Michalsky's parfum and for Palmolive. Starting this season, there is no jury. This would remain unchanged for all the following seasons. Thomas Hayo and Michael Michalsky are not returning for their spots as judges, whilst the teams and battle concept are removed as well. Both Hayo and Michalsky's place at judging remained open for guest judges each week. ()

Also the winner of the first cycle of Austria's Next Topmodel, Larissa Marolt was automatically secured a place among the top 20 finalists who will be chosen out of the semifinalists from the different audition cities and the written applications. The winner is 19-year-old Sara Nuru from Munich. The international destinations for this cycle were set in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York City and Singapore. ()

The show started airing on 28 February 2008 with 120 semi-finalists in the competition, and finished on 5 June 2008. This cycle's tagline as mentioned in the television previews, is "Sie laufen wieder" ("They walk again" – as in to walk the runway). This season was commercially presented by Volkswagen Tiguan. For this season the number of contestants was expanded to 19. The show was hosted by top model Heidi Klum. Vanessa Hegelmaier, who withdrew due to an accident, became an internationally successful topmodel after the show. The winner of the show was 16-year-old Jennifer Hof from Rodgau. The international destinations for this cycle were set in Barcelona, Vienna, Tel Aviv, Los Angeles, New York City and Sydney. ()
