Julie Johnson is a 2001 independent American drama film directed by Bob Gosse and starring Lili Taylor, Courtney Love, and Mischa Barton. Written by Gosse and Wendy Hammond, the plot focuses on a New Jersey housewife (Taylor) who, after separating from her husband, falls in love with her wayward friend (Love) and begins a relationship with her. The film features an original score by Angelo Badalamenti as well as a soundtrack by Liz Phair. Julie Johnson debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and was shown at several film festivals worldwide between 2001 and 2004, later appearing on the here TV network as part of their films series. Courtney Love won the award for Outstanding Actress in a Feature Film for her performance from Los Angeles' Outfest in 2001. ()

About Julie Johnson

A New Jersey housewife is dissatisfied with her everyday life because she is smarter than she or anyone else knows. While taking a computer class, Julie discovers her abilities and finds the courage to make dramatic life changes. This is a story of realizing one's potential and being willing to turn one's life upside down to take a chance on finding happiness. Claire, Julie's best friend, goes along with Julie's secret quest and eventually moves in with her. Both women are on a search to realize their dreams and come to terms with their love for each other.
