A.D. Police Files is a three-part original video animation produced by Artmic and AIC. The story is set five years before the events of Bubblegum Crisis. It showcases three early cases of A.D. Police: Dead End City and features Leon McNichol's origin.

A.D. Police File 1: The Phantom Woman(1990)

In the future, many difficult and undesirable jobs are handled by specially designed androids called BUMAs or boomers. Unfortunately, many of them have a danger to going beserk and when that happens, only the AD Police are equipped and trained to deal with them. When one AD cop is killed in one of these missions, his life insurance may be cancelled due to some unanswered questions. To clear that up, two cops decided to investigate the target android's background on their free time. Unknown to them, another android is following them with her own agenda... A.D. Police File 2: The Ripper(1990)

On an abandoned, yet operating, subway section called the Paradise Loop, there have been a series of horrificly brutal prostitute murders. While there is evidence to suggest that a boomer android is involved, a young female cop believes that a human female is the culprit. This gets her assigned to a joint investigation with the AD Police which handles boomer crimes. In a seemingly unrelated matter, this cop is contemplating replacing an irritating eye for a cybernetic implant. It is a personal matter that has a link to her case that she never expected. A.D. Police File 3: The Man Who Bites His Tongue(1990)

Billy was an ordinary AD cop, but he was massively and mortally wounded in the line of duty. In an experimental project, he is made a total conversion cyborg, a cyborg with more than 90% of his body artificial. The only thing that reminds him of his humanity is his brain and his tongue, which he periodically bites to remind himself of his humanity. Unfortunately, apart from that, he suffers from total sensory deprivation which slowly begins to affect his mind. His efforts to feel something, anything, lead to tragedy.
