1982, der erste Libanon-Krieg: Vier junge israelische Soldaten sind zusammen in einem Panzer eingepfercht. Mit ihrem Gefährt sollen sie ein Dorf auf Seiten des Libanon auskundschaften, das als möglicher Sitz der Hisbollah gilt und kurz zuvor von der israelischen Luftwaffe attackiert worden ist. Kurz vor dem Dorf kommt der Panzer aber vom Weg ab und bleibt stecken. Aus Furcht vor einem Hinterhalt verschanzt sich die unerfahrene Mannschaft im Fahrzeug und beobachtet durch das Zielfernrohr das dramatische Geschehen im Dorf.

Die ist nach dem Tod ihres Mannes so mit ihrer Arbeit beschäftigt, dass ihr für die Familie die Zeit fehlt. Erst als der russische Einwandererarzt Vladimir Daphne ernsthafte Avancen macht, sieht sie wieder Licht am Ende des Tunnels und findet auch die Kraft, die Familienprobleme zu lösen.
