Im Wilden Westen (engl. Death Valley Days), auch Der Wilde Westen, ist eine US-amerikanische Fernsehserie, die zwischen 1952 und 1970 produziert und bis zum 1. August 1975 in Syndication ausgestrahlt wurde. Sie ist auch unter den Titeln Call of the West, The Pioneers, Trails West und Western Star Theater im englischen Sprachraum bekannt. Als eine der ersten Anthologieserien behandelte sie in jeder Folge eine in sich abgeschlossene Geschichte aus dem Wilden Westen, die thematisch im Death Valley in Kalifornien angesiedelt war oder einen Bezug dazu hatte. Die Geschichten zeigen verschiedene Charaktere, Ereignisse und Orte aus der US-amerikanischen Geschichte und ehren das Erbe des Death Valley und der Pioniere, die es erschlossen. Sie wurde 1930 von der Werbetexterin Ruth Woodman im Auftrag der Werbeagentur McCann-Erickson der Pacific Coast Borax Company geschaffen, die das Waschmittel "20 Mule Team Borax" verkaufte, deren Rohstoff Borax im Death Valley abgebaut wurde. Death Valley Days is an American radio and television anthology series featuring true stories of the old American West, particularly the Death Valley area. Created in 1930 by Ruth Woodman, the program was broadcast on radio until 1945 and continued from 1952 to 1970 as a syndicated television series, with reruns continuing through August 1, 1975. The series was sponsored by the Pacific Coast Borax Company and hosted by Stanley Andrews, Ronald Reagan, Robert Taylor, and Dale Robertson. With the passing of Dale Robertson in 2013, all the former Death Valley Days hosts are now deceased.
