The sixteenth season of the American reality television show The Voice premiered on February 25, 2019, on NBC. For the first time in its history, the show featured a fifth coach, Kelsea Ballerini, who selected contestants to participate in The Comeback Stage. While the Block made a return from the last season, this season introduced "The Comeback Stage", a digital companion series where six artists eliminated from the Blind Auditions coached by Kelsea Ballerini pitted in a series of Battles for a place in the Top 13. Chevel Shepherd was named winner of this season, marking Kelly Clarkson's second win as a coach, and making her the first female coach to win multiple seasons (and the third overall coach, after Shelton and Levine). Alisan Porter was named the winner of the season, marking Christina Aguilera's first win as a coach. The fifth season of the American reality talent show The Voice premiered on September 23, 2013 on NBC. Adam Levine and Blake Shelton returned as coaches for their fifth season, while CeeLo Green and Christina Aguilera returned after being replaced by Usher and Shakira in season four. This was the final season to feature all four original coaches and Green's last season as a coach. This is the first season to extend the use of steals in the knockout round, which was previously made available only in the Battle rounds; and the Instant Save during live shows, allowing Twitter's tweets from the viewers (based on the airing of East Coast/Pacific time zones) to save a contestant eligible from elimination. The iTunes multiplier bonus introduced on season three also returned but the multiplier was reduced to five, which was still applied till this day. NBC officially announced The Voice's renewal on May 13, 2012, during its 2012–13 upfront presentation, with the show returning as a fall series. Season three introduced Steals during the Battle rounds in which other coaches can save a losing artist to join them to their team and reinstating them in the competition. It was initially enacted during the Battle rounds, but would later extended to Knockout rounds (also introduced this season) from season five onwards. This is the first season to introduce a revamp of the competition during the live shows adapting to a format similar to The X Factor, where eliminations now apply to any artists disregarding to the team's affiliation, and the iTunes bonus multiplier where it was awarded a tenfold of votes (fivefold as of season five) to certain artists if their recorded single peaked at a certain position at the close of the voting window. The first promo aired on NBC on Saturday, October 8, 2011, during an episode of Saturday Night Live. The program seeks solo artists and duos that perform various types of music: pop, rock, R&B, hip-hop, alternative, Latin, country, blues and indie. Auditions were held July 15 to August 31, 2011, in Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, Atlanta, Nashville, and Orlando. All four coaches return for their second season. The season expanded from the first season where each coach has 12 artists (a usual size on almost all seasons) on their team, up from eight as in the first season. The blind auditions and the battle rounds have also been extended. Executive producer Mark Burnett said that a results show would be on Tuesday nights in the spring. The season premiered on Sunday, February 5, 2012, immediately following Super Bowl XLVI. Jermaine Paul was named the winner of the season, marking Blake Shelton's first win as a coach. ()
