Antarktika (von altgriechisch ἀνταρκτικός antarktikos, deutsch ‚der Arktis gegenüber‘) ist der Südkontinent der Erde, auf dem auch der Südpol selbst liegt. Es liegt inmitten der Antarktis (Zone jenseits von 66,6° Breite), mit der er umgangssprachlich oft identifiziert wird. Weitere Bezeichnungen sind Südkontinent und antarktischer Erdteil. Antarktika hat eine Fläche von etwa 14 Millionen Quadratkilometern und ist nahezu vollständig vom antarktischen Eisschild bedeckt. Geografisch unterscheidet man die Regionen Westantarktika und Ostantarktika. Klimatisch liegt praktisch der gesamte Kontinent in den hochpolaren Eiswüstenklimaten der südlichen Polarzone und nur sehr kleine Bereiche der antarktischen Halbinsel, in Küstennähe oder auf vorgelagerten Inseln können den Tundrenklimaten zugeordnet werden. Bereits seit der Antike wurde die Existenz eines unentdeckten Südkontinents vermutet und dieser Terra Australis ("Südliches Land") genannt. Mit der Erkundung des südlichen Pazifiks, Neuseelands und Australiens durch Abel Tasman im 17. Jahrhundert und James Cook im 18.
