Die Löwenbändigerin Tira ist die Zugnummer in Bill Bartons “Wonder Show”. Ihre üppige Schönheit und ihr Mut reißen das Publikum zu Beifallsstürmen hin – vor allem das männliche. Die Frauen sind weniger begeistert, denn scharenweise laufen ihre Verehrer zu Tira über. Tira hat zwei Leidenschaften: gutaussehende Männer und glitzernde Juwelen. Ihr augenblicklicher Favorit ist Slick, der “König der Taschendiebe”, ein ebenso freigebiger wie eifersüchtiger Galan. Doch eine Tira läßt sich nicht an einen Mann fesseln. Das verwirrt den Armen so, daß er bei der Ausübung seines Berufs unvorsichtig wird und der Polizei in die Hände fällt. Tira wird der Beihilfe beschuldigt und gerät ebenfalls hinter Gitter.
