Der amerikanische Kurzfilm aus dem Jahr 1913 erzählt die Geschichte einer Mutter und ihres Babys, die von einem armen Wanderer in ihrem Haus bedroht werden. Während der Fremde um das Haus schleicht, ruft die Frau per Telefon ihren Ehemann zur Hilfe. Dieser macht sich mit einem gestohlenen Auto sofort auf den Weg, um die noch junge Familie zu retten. Der Eindringling nähert sich mit einem Messer langsam dem Zimmer im Obergeschoss, in dem sich seine Ehefrau und Tochter aufhalten. Der Ehemann wird jedoch bald von dem Besitzer des gestohlenen Wagens und der Polizei verfolgt und somit an der Rettungstat gehindert. Ein Wettlauf gegen die Zeit beginnt.
